Threat Intelligence Risk Model
Project type
Power BI Dashboard
Date
February 2022
During my time with Hozint, a threat intelligence company, I developed a composite risk model to help security clients assess the severity and spatial impact of real-time threat events.
I analyzed thousands of intelligence reports generated during crisis events, extracting key variables such as:
Casualty count
Event type
Level of impact
Time and location data
Other contextual threat indicators
Using risk modeling theory from my graduate studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS, I created a weighted scoring system that calculated the relative threat level of each incident. I collaborated closely with the CTO and CEO to ensure the model met client needs — refining the structure and UX based on their feedback.
To visualize the results, I used coordinate data to create heat maps and dashboards in both Power BI and Tableau, enabling users to filter by location, event type, and time range.
Each week, I presented updates to upper management using PowerPoint, incorporating client-driven refinements. The model was ultimately well received and considered for integration into Hozint’s platform as a strategic feature for risk forecasting and situational awareness.
